I will say right away that this mode is used very often in our business. Why?
The thing is that everything we do in the browser when we browse the Internet, make purchases and much more is recorded through certain protocols in the history. So, later we can find the site we need in the history (Ctrl + H) or not fill in annoying information like login or password again. Since the browser will obediently save it for us and offer to insert it the next time we decide to visit the same page.
The same function in the Chrome browser, only more thoroughly, is performed by our Google Account. Moreover, it synchronizes all data with our other devices. This is very convenient. When, for example, I watched a video on the computer, and then wanted to finish watching it on my phone – I just have to go to my library and open the “history” tab.
BUT! Probably, every Internet user, at least once in his life, had a desire or even a need to work on the Internet without leaving traces in the system. This situation is possible, for example, when we are in a public place (Internet cafe, library), at work or on someone else’s computer or want to hide something from someone. In any case, when we do not want any other computer user to easily find out what pages we visited and what we did. We turn on the incognito mode.
We suggest using the key combination CTRL+SHIFT+N.
Then another browser window opens in the same mode. You can distinguish such a window from a regular one by the simple icon of a person in glasses. In the upper right corner.
We use this mode to check and configure GEO advertising. After all, for example, if a cafe from the city of Kharkov is interested in our services, then after several entries of the same phrase, for example: “cafe Kharkov”, Google will remember our interest in a certain object and will constantly display it at the top, this is our “favorite place”!, and we will not be able to adequately assess the situation. Therefore, when in a conversation with us, a client states that everything is fine with him and he is at the top of the list on the Google map in his city, we recommend that he check this hypothesis through the incognito mode.
The mode is also useful for those who want to find something new in the topic of interest to him. After all, Google remembers your circle of interests and sometimes does not display new and interesting materials for you.
In addition, the Google Chrome browser has received an update that prohibits user identification in the “Incognito” mode. Thus, sites with a paid subscription will not be able to determine via JavaScript whether you are a regular reader.
This leads to an interesting fact: users in Google Chrome mode can read materials for free that were previously available only by subscription. And if earlier publications had tools for identifying users in Incognito mode, now they do not work.
For example, The New York Times used to determine whether Incognito mode was enabled using the FileSystem API and limited the number of articles for free reading. After the innovation, the API elements responsible for user identification were blocked.
The browser update will affect a third of news publications with paid access. Google representatives recommended that publishers “require users to register for free to view content
