So what awaits us? Why did it happen that Google My Business is no longer needed?

As you may have noticed, starting this week, you can easily claim and verify your Business Profile directly from the Google products you already use. We also announced that we’re simplifying naming and moving from Google My Business to Google Business Profile. We wanted to share more details with our community here.

Claim your Business Profile directly in Search and Maps

It’s now easier to complete your profile verification or resolve other issues with your Business Profile. Simply search for your business name on Google or go to your profile directly in the Google Maps app, and you’ll see the option to verify your profile or resolve other issues, like a paused profile, directly from Google Search. You can also simply search for “my business” in Google Search to get to your Business Profile.

From there, you can edit the information people see when they search for your business, including your address, store hours, photos, and more.

In the coming months, we’ll enable all merchants who create or request a Google Business Profile to complete setup directly in Google Search and Maps. You’ll also be able to clearly see whether your profile is public and what you need to do to make it visible to your customers.

Manage your Business Profile exclusively through Search and Maps

The easiest way to manage your profile is now through Google Maps and Search. Going forward, additional tools to help you understand how your business is doing and how you can improve your online presence will be available exclusively in Search and Maps.

You no longer need to use a separate Google My Business website or mobile app. So, to keep things simple, “Google My Business” is now just “Google Business Profile.” Our help center, community, and support channels will be updated accordingly in the coming weeks. Over time, you will also be linked to your Business Profile directly from the emails and push notifications you receive from us.

The Google My Business website will transition to primarily support larger businesses with multiple profiles and will be renamed “Business Profile Manager.” Larger businesses will still be able to manage separate profiles in Search and Maps if they choose. Over time, we expect smaller businesses to transition to managing separate profiles directly in Search and Maps.

The Google My Business API will be renamed the Business Profile API, retaining all current functionality and continuing active development.

In 2022, we will retire the Google My Business app so that small businesses can take advantage of improved merchant experiences in Google Maps and Search.

Expect more details on all of these changes in the coming months.
