The Maroon clothing store from Lviv reached out to us, a client facing a common problem for many businesses: blocked points on Google Maps. However, Maroon’s situation was unique and quite complex: their store is represented in two different locations within the same shopping center, essentially occupying two sides of the mall. One of these points was blocked, and unblocking it proved to be a real challenge.
For Google support staff who verify the existence and reality of stores, such a situation appears as a duplicate. It’s very difficult to explain that within a single area, for example, 200 m², there are two different stores with separate entrances and different employees. This created significant obstacles for promoting the business on Google Maps, as Google tends to consider such locations erroneous.
This very request – unblocking a complex location – was the first task Maroon approached Mappers GEO with. After successfully unblocking and confirming this point, and then another store location elsewhere, the client asked if we could offer anything for further development. We offered them our Google Map business promotion service, which is essentially comprehensive work on basic local SEO.
We undertook the optimization of the company’s Google profile for all Maroon retail locations. It’s important to understand the specifics of local SEO: the work we do usually begins to take effect and show results in the long term. This often creates certain difficulties in perception for business owners, as Maroon’s owner, like many other entrepreneurs, expected immediate visual or tangible results, similar to what can be seen on Instagram, where activity quickly converts into direct inquiries.
However, Google Maps works differently – a person might simply see a store in a shopping center and walk in without explicit online actions. And it’s the statistics from the company’s profile, even if they seem “poor” in the initial stages, that eventually begin to reflect the real impact on the business. This is why third-party services are often used abroad to evaluate results, as basic Google statistics can show dynamics with a delay.
During the work process, we performed everything typically included in this service:
We don’t know which specific recommendations were implemented by the client afterwards, but what we know for sure is that our work truly yielded results.
The client approached us on June 27, 2024, and the initial metrics for the quarter (July-September 2024) were as follows:
As our work neared its end, the statistics seemingly increased only slightly. This caused the client some doubts about the effectiveness of our efforts, as all technical work performed around Google’s algorithms doesn’t yield immediate and visible effects, like, for instance, on social media.
However, as we explained, Google company profile promotion and optimization takes time for the algorithms to “absorb” the changes and start ranking the profile anew. And the results indeed came, which is the best proof of the effectiveness of long-term local SEO.
Upon reviewing the data for the last quarter (February-April 2025), almost a year after the start of our cooperation, we observed impressive changes:
These figures clearly demonstrate that even in complex cases involving unblocking and confirming unique locations, as well as promotion in a competitive large city like Lviv, systematic work on local SEO pays off. The results don’t come immediately, but they are stable and significant, providing the Maroon store with significantly better visibility and attracting more potential clients directly to their physical points of sale.
The fact that our work truly yields results is gratifying. Even though we weren’t immediately given other stores to work on, we believe that after this case study and article are released, the owner will read it and perhaps change her mind regarding further cooperation. After all, successful cases, based on objective data, speak for themselves.
